Talk to a local who has lived in Fuquay-Varina for many years and they will tell you the changes have been unbelievable. The population has doubled in the last 10 years! Residents have always known this is a special place. Visitors used to travel here seeking the healing powers of the Fuquay Mineral Spring. Today, you can still drink those “healing waters,” but there’s so much more to experience. With two downtowns, several parks, good schools, and a short commute to Raleigh (and several other great towns), Fuquay-Varina is the perfect place to call home.

Grab a Bite

There are several delicious locally owned places to enjoy a great meal. In downtown Fuquay, The Mason Jar Tavern serves Southern cuisine such as fried chicken and waffles, pulled pork, and a pimento cheeseburger. The sweet tea tastes better since it’s served out of a mason jar. For more old-fashioned country cooking, check out Joyce and Family Restaurant. Craving pizza? Try Anna’s Pizzeria. To celebrate a special occasion or date night, there’s the upscale Rock Harbor Grill which specializes in seafood. Wednesdays through Saturdays they have live music at night.

Around the corner in Varina’s downtown, you have to try the BBQ at Aviator Smokehouse. Nil’s Cafe has sandwiches, salads, wraps, and delicious hummus, all good choices to order “to go” and take for a picnic.

In addition to these downtown eateries, there are many other restaurants to choose from. Whether you like Mexican, Chinese, Italian, American, or fast food, there’s something to please everyone’s taste buds.

Don’t forget to satisfy your sweet tooth. You’ll find homemade baked goods at Stick Boy Bread, CupCakeBite, and Sweet Creations. The Chocolate Fix has more than 60 varieties of hand-crafted candy.

Go Shopping

You’ll find unique gifts, antiques, clothes, and furniture at several shops and boutiques in both downtown areas. In addition, there are several big discount retailers in town such as Walmart, Roses, and Big Lots. If you like the thrill of hunting for true bargains and treasures, browse through all of the thrift stores scattered around town.

With Raleigh and Durham nearby, there are several large shopping malls and countless places to shop ’til you drop.

Be Entertained

In early 2018, the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center will open after undergoing extensive renovations. This space will feature a 300 seat theater and offer opportunities for visual and performing arts.

To see the latest blockbuster films on the big screen, you only need to take a short drive to Ovation Theater in Holly Springs where you can order your concessions or a whole meal from the comfort of your reclining seat. Every Tuesday, tickets are only $5 per show!

There are several breweries in town that have a vibrant live music scene. Both Aviator and Mason Jar have popular microbreweries. Fainting Goat has a dog-friendly outdoor patio and a fire pit. Lincoln, named after the great former President, is another fun place to check out.
