Working with the Robuck Homes Design Studio

May 22, 2025

One of the great things about purchasing a home from Robuck before it’s been constructed (known as a pre-sale) is that you’ll have the opportunity to personalize your home and make it truly yours. When you sign your purchase agreement with Robuck Homes, one of the first steps is to begin working with the Design Studio to personalize the home the way you want it.

The following will help you better understand how to work with the Robuck Homes Design Studio and the approach you can take to build the home you want.

Understand the benefits and the process

The Robuck Homes Design Studio is your all-in-one location where you plan and craft your new home. The studio is fully equipped with displays that include the latest products, appliances, and interior design trends you can add to your new home. Our Design Studio Consultants have the knowledge and insights to help you choose products that fit your lifestyle and budget. Our collections feature what people are looking for in today’s homes.

Keep in mind that this is the exciting part of your homebuying journey. Even if you’ve never gone through this process before, it should be fun, and your Design Consultants are here to help. Take the time to do your homework — which is really just to daydream — and be ready to ask lots of questions. After all, this is your home, and you deserve to get the home you’ve dreamed of.

When you first get started, you can trust that your personal Design Studio Consultant is there to guide you, walking you through three specific appointments that will result in the home you want. Once you have taken care of your floor plan choices and signed the purchase agreement, your Design Studio Consultant will contact you to set up your first appointment.

Getting ready for your first appointment

2-3 hours: Design Studio orientation and exterior selections

Your first appointment is all about the exterior of your home. We’ll review your floor plan choices, which you will have already selected with your sales agent. Come prepared to discuss your budget, and during this appointment, you’ll review your wish list with your consultant.

It helps to think ahead about what you want your home to look like. We’ll begin by discussing the exterior of your home. Think about what colors you like for the outside, and you may want to come prepared with inspiration photos of what you like. Together, we’ll explore what you like about your inspiration photos, and we’ll begin to tailor your home to align with your preferred look.

An important thing to know about Robuck Homes is that we are known for our diverse streetscapes, which create an inviting community and helps retain your home’s value. That means we work hard to prevent similar elevations and colors in close proximity to one another. As you plan your home, our Design Consultants will help you make your selections based on the style of homes that will be built around you.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your structural selections, paint colors, and materials, along with a good sense of the interior choices you’ll want to start considering. If time allows, we may also begin exploring kitchen and flooring options. It’s completely normal to start these conversations without finalizing everything. Don’t worry — we’ll dive deeper into all the details during your second appointment.

Preparing for the 2nd appointment

3-4 hours: Interior selections

During the second appointment, we will discuss any selections you made during the first appointment. Don’t forget: if things have changed, that’s okay. Now is the right time to discuss them.

You may have already begun on your kitchen and flooring selections by your second appointment, but if you haven’t, it’s a great time to start envisioning the overall look and feel you want for your home. Don’t forget to have photos set aside of what you love. Look for cabinet colors or tiles you like and make a note of them. And give careful thought to how you plan to use your kitchen — it’s one of the most important and functional spaces in your home.

For bathrooms, think about the type of room you’re imagining. Do you want a spa-like bathroom? Something modern? Do you want something simple? And what do you believe is most important in each of your bathrooms? Answering these questions can help you be ready to design a room that’s perfect for your needs.

Overall, come prepared to discuss any features you’d love to see in your new home. Whether it’s something you enjoy in your current space, a detail you admire in a friend’s home, or an idea you discovered on Pinterest, bring it to the table. From stairs and trim to wall colors, flooring, and lighting — no detail is too small. The more inspiration you share, the better we can help bring your vision to life.

Finalize things in the 3rd appointment

1-2 hours: Reviewing and finalizing selections

The last appointment is your time to wrap things up. The most successful clients come having already reviewed their selection sheets, so they have final changes ready to discuss. And then we begin our detailed reviews to finalize your selections.

You and your Robuck Homes Design Studio Consultant will go over each of the selections, room by room, and finalize each detail.

Things to consider

The design phase is your opportunity to explore and have fun.  Don’t hesitate to make changes during this stage! Buyers who take the time to thoughtfully consider their selections and ensure they align with their vision, lifestyle, and budget are often the most satisfied after moving in.

Also, our Design Studio Consultants will remind you that nothing is final until it’s time to sign off on selections after our third appointment. Think of these appointments as “filling the shopping cart.” If something doesn’t quite fit, you can always put things back during this phase. Nothing is yours until “checkout” — when you finalize your selections.

We recommend taking time off work for these appointments so you can be fully present and engaged. Be sure to come well-fed and ready to move — these sessions involve walking, hands-on exploration, and thoughtful decision-making. They can be a bit lengthy, so the more prepared and comfortable you are, the smoother the experience will be.

Overall, your Robuck Homes Design Studio Consultant is here to guide you through a process that will result in your perfect personal space. Feel free to ask questions at any point and approach each step with care and attention. Taking the process thoughtfully will make the experience more rewarding and meaningful in the end.
